Is the Stock Market Closed on Labor Day? Here’s the 2024 Holiday Trading Schedule

by admin

U.S. financial markets are closed Monday in observance of Labor Day, marking the end of the summer holiday schedule.

Markets will operate normal hours Tuesday through Friday. On Friday, investors will watch for a key economic data point: the August jobs report due at 8:30 a.m. ET. Last month, the economy added 114,000 jobs and unemployment rose to 4.3%.

After Labor Day, there are only two stock-market holidays remaining this year: Thursday, Nov. 28, for Thanksgiving Day and Wednesday, Dec. 25, for Christmas Day.

Stock markets will also close early on the Friday after Thanksgiving and the Thursday after Christmas Day.

Bond markets will close in October and November for Columbus Day and Veterans’ Day, respectively, and close early on the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.
