Comcast Joins Streaming Bundle Movement With Peacock, Netflix, Apple TV+ Combo

by admin

Key Takeaways

  • Comcast will offer its subscribers a streaming bundle that includes Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+.
  • CEO Brian Roberts said the price of the combination would be “vastly reduced.”
  • The company followed rivals that have been putting together packages of several services in an effort to attract customers.

Comcast (CMCSA) became the latest media company to jump on the bundling bandwagon, announcing Tuesday that it will offer its customers a combination of its Peacock, Netflix (NFLX), and Apple TV+ (AAPL) streaming services in one package.

Comcast Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Roberts told MoffettNathanson’s 2024 Media, Internet & Communications Conference in New York that its cable, broadband, and mobile subscribers will be able to get the bundle, called StreamSaver, later this month.

While he didn’t give a price for StreamSaver, Roberts noted that it would come at a “vastly reduced price to anything in the market today.” Peacock currently starts at $5.99 a month, Netflix at $6.99 a month, and Apple TV+ at $9.99 a month.

The move comes as rival companies are joining forces to make their products more competitive. Last week, Disney (DIS) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) said they will offer Disney+, Hulu, and Max in one package. In February, those two, along with Fox (FOX), announced that they had reached agreement on a joint venture to provide a streaming sports service later this year.

Comcast shares were little changed as of about 1 p.m. ET Tuesday. They’ve lost about 9.5% of their value so far this year.
